FAQ
Hey there VIPs (Very Important Pups). We're here to answer any questions you (or your dog parent) may have about flying on our new offerings from BARK Air.
Which locations/airports is BARK Air flying in and out of for these initial flights?
For these initial flights, we will be flying in and out of the New York area (TEB) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL). For those in the greater Chicago area, we are also offering the following limited time flight options:
- 2/13 Milwaukee (MEK) - New York (TEB)
- 2/17 New York (TEB) - Milwaukee (MEK)
What type of info will I need to provide for myself and my dog parent?
Your human needs to have valid identification, so please make sure not to chew their state-issued ID or passports…no matter how delicious they look. Dogs are required to have up-to-date vaccination records. If you don’t know what a vaccination is, it’s best not to ask.
Our crew will reach out to your human after they book the flight to gather additional information about your size, any allergies, and your socialization preferences.
With more dogs being on these planes, will the same care and attention be provided to me as on the original flights?
BARK Air was designed from the ground up for dogs! We are fully committed to continuing to curate thoughtful dog-centric experiences that our passengers have come to love and rave about. We will have more BARK Air Concierge on staff to help support all of our furry passengers.
What type of airplane will I be flying on?
Through working with the direct air carrier Air Wisconsin, we are able to offer flights on a CRJ-200 aircraft.
This plane allows us to accommodate approximately double the number of dogs and dog parents per flight.
How many tickets will my dog parent need to buy for an extra person or pup?
Each ticket comes with space for 1 dog and 1 human.
However, 2 dogs with a combined weight of 50 lbs. or less can ride on one ticket without the need to purchase an additional ticket.
If you are traveling with additional friends and family, please reach out directly to our concierge team who will assist you with a travel plan based on your travel group's particular needs.
You can also refer to our seating chart for help choosing the right amount of tickets for you.
If I am a big goooooood boy (or girl), will I be comfortable on these more traditionally sized airplane seats?
Please see the seating area and dogs illustrations to see how you and your human can plan to travel on this flight. Our BARK Air Concierges are here to assist and help recommend the best options for you as you book your flight.
How many other dogs and dog parents will be on my flight?
Our passenger capacity will vary depending on aircraft and dog sizes. The CRJ-200 aircraft supporting our trial NY and Florida route can support approximately 20 pups and 20 humans.
Will you be scheduling more flights on this route?
We are focused on making these initial flights an amazing experience and will assess next steps in our growth accordingly based on feedback from this launch.
How will you ensure that those soon-to-be dog friends that are reactive or aren’t getting along can be separated if there are more of us on the plane?
We believe that all dogs are good dogs and we welcome having them aboard. However, the safety, comfort, and happiness of every dog we serve is our top priority. If you are uncomfortable around other dogs, anxious on planes, or easily triggered by humans, this may not be the best flight experience for you.
Your BARK Air Concierge will talk with your human about your temperament and sensitivities.
Safety. Comfort. Happiness.
How much luggage can we bring?
Each ticket purchased can bring 2 checked bags and 2 carry ons.
When should I arrive at the airport on flight day?
We recommend that you and your pup parent arrive 1 hour prior to your flight.
This will allow you just enough time for check-in, a bathroom break, and a tummy scratch from our crew prior to boarding.
You will get to skip the traditional waiting when traveling at larger commercial airports for stress free travel.
Are children welcome to fly?
For these initial flights, we are allowing children over the age of 12 to fly along with you.
Can other animals fly?
In the spirit of creating the best experience for you and all of the other dogs on these initial flights on our CRJ-200 aircraft, we are not allowing other animals on them.
We've had some animals try to fake it by barking during our onboarding process, but the costumes aren't fooling us!
Having paws, I can't drive myself, but what if my dog parent wants to rent a car during our travels? Can you help us?
Yes! For renting a vehicle to explore all that your new destination has to offer, we have preferred pricing through our rental car partner, Go Rentals.
Your car can be waiting at the airport for you when you arrive, ready for full zoomies ahead.
Please let our concierge team know of your interest during the booking process and we'd be happy to help find the perfect rental car fit for you.
What's your cancellation and refund policy?
If for any reason there is an extenuating life circumstance that prevents you from traveling on your original booking, we will hold your BARK Air credit for use during an alternative travel date.
We will not assess a change fee should we be able to find an alternative waitlisted passenger.
For additional convenience, our BARK Air credit can also be transferred to an alternative passenger should that be more ideal for you at that moment.

Annette and Pup Sam
Sam and I loved our BARK Air flight! Once we arrived at the private terminal, everything went so smoothly. Boarding was easy, our on-board concierge and the flight attendant really pampered both of us, and I loved drinking mimosas in the sky while getting to know the other passengers and their dogs. Sam was so comfortable that he slept in my lap during most of the flight. I wish BARK Air had been started years ago. BARK Air gets 5 out of 5 woofs from us!
Vicki and Pup Howie
I give BARK Air 5 stars. Everyone was very welcoming and helpful. My dog was treated extremely well - It was obvious he was the VIP - and BARK Air was very aware of dog dynamics! The flight was the most relaxing I have ever had. BARK Air’s flight team Maria and Kayla were amazing on board, proactive and responsive. The "wings" for my dog were a thoughtful touch!
Natalie and Pup Holly
The flight was so awesome. We had a really good time and made a bunch of friends. The best part about it is that everyone has a shared interest and they’re all going to the same place. Definitely five stars - you guys went above and beyond and we couldn’t be more thankful, this company was created in the nick of time!
